.: booking a course at The Fine Food School

:: our terms and conditions of business

Our apologies for the wordiness of our terms.  These litigious times sadly require us to make a few specific statements.

our service

The Fine Food School offers classes and personal tuition relating to food and cookery.  We do not offer formal qualifications at this time.

bookings and cancellations

By making a reservation for a course with The Fine Food School you are agreeing to pay us the sum agreed at the time of booking. We may collect credit card details from you at the time of booking, pre-authorise a payment of the sum agreed and collect a non-refundable deposit equal to 25% of the entire amount.  We may also request payment in full, in advance, by cheque or credit card. This payment in full will include a non-refundable 25% deposit.

Where we have collected a deposit only we will usually collect the balance of the payment two weeks prior to the date of the course and cancellations after this point are not refundable.

If the course you are attending is a group booking with dates requested by you, and you wish to re-schedule the course we will do our best to accomodate you.  However in the event that we cannot provide alternative dates we regret we cannot refund your initial deposit.

In booking a place or places on a scheduled course you are offering to attend and pay the price agreed at the time of booking.  Due to variance in bookings we may wish to reschedule a scheduled course.  In such circumstances we will do our utmost to ensure that the new dates are convenient for you.  Should this prove impossible we will refund any monies paid by you in full.

disclaimer

All our courses are intended to introduce you to techniques and ingredients, recipes and menus.  We will do our utmost to assist you in learning about food and cookery.  However nothing in any of our courses should be taken by you as direct instruction or advice other than on a purely informal basis.  You are responsible for your own actions, safety and conduct both whilst attending our courses and at all other times, this includes but is not limited to your physical safety and conduct in a kitchen environment and your practice of food hygiene and safety.  For guidance and advice you should seek officially approved recommendations regarding food safety.

alcohol

Alcohol may be offered to accompany food or as part of specific wine-related classes.  On courses where alcohol is served at any point we will notify you of such in advance of booking.  You are responsible for your own transport to and from our premises and our advice is that you arrange to share transport or use one of the local taxi companies if you intend to consume alcohol.  We will serve alcohol responsibly and at our sole discretion at all times.

other terms

All other terms and conditions of our business will be made at our own reasonable discretion.  If you have any questions regarding our terms of business please contact us.
